Bigg Boss 20 Day 39 Highlights: Scout Becomes New Captain as Qazi Touqeer Recalls Turning Down Ekta Kapoor Offer
The Bigg Boss 20 house witnessed a major power shift on Day 39 as Scout, whose real name is Tanmay Singh, was crowned the new captain of the house. The episode, which aired on October 15, also featured an emotional revelation by singer Qazi Touqeer, who opened up about turning down an acting offer from television producer Ekta Kapoor early in his career, alongside a fiery confrontation between Mahhi Vij and Yung DSA over the captaincy race.
Captaincy task sparks fresh tensions
The day began on a relatively quiet note following the dramatic mid-week eviction of Nakul Dhull, who was removed from the show over physical violence. However, the calm soon gave way to conflict as Bigg Boss announced the captaincy task.
In a twist, four former captains — Gullu, Uditi, Scout and Asif — were handed the authority to eliminate contenders in the X Room, with the contestant nobody eliminated set to become the new captain. Yung DSA played a decisive role, voting both Mahhi Vij and Qazi Touqeer out of the race.
Explaining his decision, Yung DSA said he did not see leadership qualities in Qazi, and accused Mahhi of indulging in gossip, which in his view made her unfit for the captain’s post. After the eliminations and a puzzle challenge, Scout emerged victorious and Bigg Boss announced him as the new captain, congratulating him with the words: “Hope you will do good captaincy.”
Mahhi Vij vs Yung DSA: heated exchange
Mahhi Vij was visibly furious after being knocked out of the captaincy race. She confronted Yung DSA over his remarks, taking offence at what she described as personal comments. The argument escalated quickly, with Mahhi telling him “Mard ban” as tempers flared inside the house.
Qazi Touqeer’s Ekta Kapoor revelation
In one of the episode’s most talked-about moments, Qazi Touqeer revisited a defining chapter of his life during a candid conversation with Aamrapali Dubey. The singer recalled winning the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005 at the age of just 20 — a victory that brought him overnight fame, a flood of offers, and even seven bodyguards at the peak of his popularity.
Among the offers was a role from Ekta Kapoor, who wanted him to play a rockstar in her television show Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai — a part that eventually went to Iqbal Khan. Qazi admitted he was young and overwhelmed by the sudden attention, confessing that he was more distracted by Kapoor’s rings during the narration than by the opportunity itself.
He found it difficult to say no to the powerful producer directly, and the aftermath was painful: sections of the media branded him arrogant, and rumours swirled that he had “ditched” Ekta Kapoor. Qazi noted that with no social media back in 2005, he never got a proper chance to present his side of the story.

With Scout now holding the captain’s chair, the power dynamics inside the house have shifted significantly. However, the bitterness surrounding the selection process — particularly Mahhi Vij’s clash with Yung DSA — suggests the coming episodes will be anything but calm. The show, hosted by Salman Khan, continues to dominate television ratings and online search trends across India and Pakistan.
