ICC T20I Rankings Shake-Up: Shreyas Iyer Storms to Career-High Fourth as India Dominate Top Four
India captain Shreyas Iyer has jumped three places to a career-high fourth spot in the ICC’s latest T20 International rankings for batters, after a blistering start in the ongoing five-match home series against the West Indies. Iyer’s rise means India now hold three of the top four positions in the T20I batting chart.
Iyer’s Blazing Start
Iyer smashed his maiden T20I century — a 42-ball ton — during the series-opener in Lucknow on October 6, then followed it with 40 off just 18 deliveries in the second match in Ranchi on October 9. The performances lifted him to 798 rating points in the rankings updated on Wednesday, October 14.
Top of the Table
Ishan Kishan continues to lead the standings with 904 points, while Abhishek Sharma holds second place with 891. Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan sits third with 883 points after registering three successive half-centuries and 238 runs across the three T20Is against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.
Other Big Movers
Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis moved up three places to 23rd, while West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford gained 13 slots to joint 24th and India’s Sanju Samson climbed four rungs to joint 27th. Pakistan youngster Maaz Sadaqat was the biggest riser of all, rocketing 187 places to 45th with 533 rating points after consecutive half-centuries, including a magnificent 96, against Sri Lanka.
Bowlers and All-Rounders
West Indies’ Roston Chase improved 24 places to 23rd in the T20I bowlers’ rankings and two slots to third among all-rounders. Pakistan pacer Salman Mirza climbed nine places to 14th with 635 points, while Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan retained the top bowling spot.
