LOS ANGELES: Pop superstar Taylor Swift gave the first-ever live performance of her song “The Fate of Ophelia” at the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, 2026 — a moment fans had been waiting for since the track’s release.

A surprise set on the Dolby Family Terrace

The 14-time Grammy winner’s appearance was the closing surprise of the museum’s annual fundraiser. Comedian Conan O’Brien introduced her set, calling her “John, Paul, George and Ringo all in one.” The museum’s director and president Amy Homma had praised her ahead of the evening, saying: “Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world.”

Four songs: from ‘Toy Story 5’ to the classics

Swift treated the star-studded audience to a four-song set. She performed “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the end-credit song she wrote for “Toy Story 5,” along with fan favorites “Blank Space” and “Love Story” — and, for the first time anywhere, “The Fate of Ophelia,” the lead track from her album “The Life of a Showgirl,” delivered on acoustic guitar. Pop Base shared a clip of the performance on Instagram, and fans immediately flooded the comments — “OH MY GOD SHE FINALLY DID IT,” wrote one, while another celebrated: “we got the first ever live performance of The Fate of Ophelia. So goooood.”

Dior glamour on the red carpet

The singer drew just as much attention for her look. She arrived on the red carpet in a custom silver Dior gown — a strapless, ruched bodice with a sparkling bow at the neckline and a flowing pleated skirt — paired with Chopard diamond jewelry. She later changed into a shimmering midnight-blue sequined gown for her performance.

A night honoring cinema’s biggest names

The sixth annual Academy Museum Gala, held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Miracle Mile, celebrates achievements in cinema while raising funds for the museum’s exhibitions, educational programs and public screenings. This year’s event honored filmmaker and composer John Carpenter, two-time Oscar nominee Colman Domingo, and actress Charlize Theron, and was co-chaired by Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw. Among those seen enjoying the performances were Rosé, Connor Storrie, Jessica Alba and Charlize Theron.
