Jailer 2 Crosses Rs 700 Crore, Biggest Tamil Film Ever
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 700 crore at the worldwide box office in just 11 days, becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel has overtaken previous Tamil box office leaders to set a new benchmark for the industry.
A Record-Breaking Run
Jailer 2 had already crossed Rs 300 crore net in India within its first seven days, and its momentum has only grown since. In 11 days it has passed the Rs 700 crore worldwide mark, moving ahead of earlier Tamil blockbusters including Leo (Rs 605.90 crore), the first Jailer (Rs 604.75 crore) and Coolie (Rs 518 crore).
Star Cast and Cameos
Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the sequel to the 2023 hit Jailer stars Rajinikanth alongside Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithu. SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan also feature, while Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff appear in cameo roles.
What Is Next for Rajinikanth
Rajinikanth will next be seen in Ashwath Marimuthu’s Dharman, which also features Nayanthara. He will also reunite with Jailer 2 director Nelson Dilipkumar for an upcoming Tamil action comedy co-starring Kamal Haasan, tentatively titled KH x RK, marking the two legends’ on-screen reunion after 47 years.
